We’ve started a small memorial for Hermain who was murdered on our property last night. I’ve had homeless friends who were murdered before. But nothing this up close and personal. This was a major earthquake for our community. Hermain was well liked by the vast majority of people. It appears that we know who the murderer is. But the apartment sitting above us has a camera. So we should be able to definitively get an answer to this. If it ends up being who we think it is: mental illness will be at the heart of the matter. I am as socially libertarian as probably anyone you will meet. But when extremely mentally ill people who WE KNOW are violent and dangerous, we must do something about it. The government has abandoned us to fend for ourselves out here with psychotic madmen. Everywhere I look I just see America leaving us to rot on our streets while they funnel countless billions of dollars for endless wars. The whole thing is turning into Apocalypse Now.
